Practices that choose to pursue accreditation are evaluated on stringent quality standards that encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine—from pain management and patient care to team training and medical recordkeeping—and are continuously updated to keep accredited practice teams at the forefront of the profession.

★★★★★ Hi I took my new fur baby to see Doctor Tonic today for the first time. I was greeted with smiles and kindness.I have found a vet for life highly recommend them to all you fur baby parents.Dorothea P.Dorothea P. ★★★★★ I’ve been taking my puppy here since he came home with me- and I’ve had nothing but great experiences from regular check ups, more emergent issues, to his neuter! Every doctor I’ve seen has been phenomenal and patient, and follow up is always quick and easy. I’m happy to keep bringing my dog here and would recommend to others as well!twayland01twayland01 ★★★★★ Danielle Walker is the absolute best. She wants what is best for my pup. The staff are so kind. They send follow up emails after appointments when they know we’re worried. We won’t be going anywhere else.Ruth LaToison I.Ruth LaToison I. ★★★★★ If you’re in need of a vet in DC, look no further! District Vet is an amazing hospital with an exceptional staff, both in regard to the care given to your animal and how they treat the parents of their patients.I’ve been going to District since I’ve moved to the area and have visited both the Navy Yard and Eastern Market locations. The facilities are always clean and welcoming. The reception staff are always on top of everything! I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than a few seconds for a phone call to be answered. The equally as amazing vet techs treat your animals like they are their own and are always to lend you a hand, if you need one.I see Dr. Teich when I go, and he is an absolute pleasure! I’ve met several other doctors on their staff as well, and all are just as kind and knowledgeable. I am particularly fond of how staff are always provided opportunities to learn from more senior staff during the day, while ensuring patients get impeccable care.Recently, my pup got sick which resulted in us visiting District Vet 5 times within one week. By day 2 I felt like part of the family. The staff respected my request to stay with my dog as much as possible and were a joy to spend many hours around. While my pup wasn’t always pleased with all the tests they had to do, they made sure she was as comfortable and well taken care of.I highly recommend District Vet!Shira D.Shira D. ★★★★★ Very professional and so good with my pups!! 10/10 recommendMarybeth L.Marybeth L. ★★★★★ Dr. Walker has been my vet for over 6 years, helping me care for my senior dog with lots of medical needs and through puppyhood of another. She once told me she wished she could set up a "Parents of Puppies with diarrhea" support group - a normal and constant part of puppy rearing. She's been able to dive in on specifics around nutrition for my CKD dog, meds for arthritis, and really solid referrals to specialists (derm, neuro, and even for a new vet when I moved out of town). Her strengths besides vet care include: incredible communicator, collaborator ("lets come up with a care plan together"), love for animals, and dry humor. She'll be my choice for vet care for as long as she'll have me.Julie Flores K.Julie Flores K. ★★★★★ First time I visit this one but it's like the other the best ! They are super nice, pro. There is nothing more to sayMorin T.Morin T. ★★★★★ I’ve been bringing my dog here for almost 2 years and the staff is incredible. Between routine visits and injuries that have popped up unexpectedly, they always make room for us in the schedule and are so so kind at every step of the visit.Brennan C.Brennan C. ★★★★★ A really nice and pleasant location. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Pleasantries that I truly appreciate.veronica A.veronica A. ★★★★★ I am very impressed with the caring staff, especially Nikkia Atkinson. Her love for animals and skills really stands out.Harolyn E.Harolyn E. ★★★★★ I have been to this location a couple of times. The facility looks updated with a spacious lobby and clean rooms. I am grateful for the doctors and staff at this hospital that understand how special our animals are to us. One of the techs, Nikki, always greets my dogs and takes the time to listen to my concerns and answers any questions I have. I definitely recommend this veterinary hospital if you are looking for great personalized care for fur babies!Jenny CJenny C ★★★★★ Great service and vets and staff.John B.John B. ★★★★★ We’ve recently moved to the area and the adjustment has been hard on the pets. Luckily, we ran into District Vet’s booth at Enchant’s “Paws and Claus” event; they gave not only my dog some goodies, but a swag bag for my cat! Inside the swag bag was a red toy mouse that she has been obsessed with, truly. She preys and hunts on this red mouse all day and has become her favorite toy. It’s nice to see her fully take advantage of the new space and adapt in a positive way 🙂 this red toy has done more than catnip could!C EC E ★★★★★ Our pet was a patient at the Brookland location and we recently started going to the Navy Yard location after moving to the neighborhood. The practice has continued to be very responsive and supportive to our pet's needs (and she's a tricky one that we've got). We've been able to get appointments even on short notice and medications when needed. Dr. Warshawsky at Navy Yard has been particularly attentive and helpful since we switched location and I highly recommend her! The desk staff and vet techs have all been professional and helpful as well so far!Kelly M.Kelly M. ★★★★★ I highly recommend this vet hospital, namely because of the amazing Nikkia on staff. She is an incredible technician and advocates for the furry members of my family. I trust them in her hands!Ariana R.Ariana R. ★★★★★ The team at Navy Yard is amazing. They have been the primary vet for my pup since her birth, and have done a great job with vaccines and making sure everything is up to date. You know the doctors are great when your pup is happy to see them. They were also an incredible resource for international pet relocation. They walked me through the requirements, and helped make sure everything was in order.I would like to specifically thank Dr. Walker, Dr. Teich, and Shana. They went above and beyond.MattMatt ★★★★★ Very caring with the pets 10/10Rael C.Rael C. ★★★★★ Above and beyond the best experience. They are all so kind when dealing with my anxiety about my cat’s dental cleaning and extraction, and they don’t try to nickel and dime you (unlike other places I’ve been to). Truly the most pleasant experience and so appreciate all they do.Shout out to Alandra and Shayna for being so helpful. 12/10 recommend.Kendra R.Kendra R. ★★★★★ Love their facility. Super clean, their a lovely staff and tend to the animals very well.CC ★★★★★ Highest recommendation for a vet in the area. I’ve been in DC for 18 years and brought my dogs to several different clinics but District Vet has been by far the best. All of the staff are extremely friendly, loving, and knowledgeable. They all really go out of their way to be helpful and compassionate. You can truly feel the love for animals. Highly recommend Dr. Warshawsky. Best end of life care for a dog I’ve ever experienced.Crystal T.Crystal T. ★★★★★ Best vet ever!Jennifer S.Jennifer S. ★★★★★ Best veterinarians in the cityBryan Lolmaugh J.Bryan Lolmaugh J. ★★★★★ Excellent intake process for new patients, experience during the visit was clear & customer friendly, and follow up was quick. The navy yard location is very clean with plenty of room in the waiting area and exam rooms for my large dog. Highly recommend & will be returning.Matt D.Matt D. ★★★★★ Wow, this is by far the nicest vet I have ever been to, and I have been to many. The service could not have been smoother, the facility is beautiful, and most of all, Dr. Teich is so incredibly knowledgeable, especially about traveling internationally with dogs. It was such a good experience that I expected it to be reflected in the bill at the end, but to my surprise the services were extremely affordable as compared to my regular veteranarian. Will definitely be going here when I am in the DMV.Billie J.Billie J. ★★★★★ I've had great experiences at District Vet in Navy Yard. I reluctantly left Friendship (which has great vets and advanced hospital services!) because it was so hard to get an appointment for regular care and it's always very crowded, which stresses out my dog. The team at the Navy Yard location are fantastic, the vets take the time with you and your pet, and they offer tech services like nail trims. I live close enough to walk for normal services, and it's relatively easy to find (paid) street parking nearby. It's also a lovely space with lots of natural light.Mary Margaret F.Mary Margaret F. ★★★★★ Dr. Walker, Dr. London, and the whole staff are truly incredible. The follow-up emails to make sure your pet is ok after a procedure really mean the world. Thank you, guys, for being amazing, and I really could not recommend bringing your furry friend here more.Nick H.Nick H. ★★★★★ I needed to get my kitty ready for travel. They were fast, helpful, friendly, clean, terrific!Lizzy P.Lizzy P. ★★★★★ Love this location! The staff are excellent and always take the best care of our pup. So thankful to have them close by!Robyn C.Robyn C. ★★★★★ Showed the utmost love & concern for my Chico Rico when he was dying. No rush to put him to sleep but gave us as much time as needed. Thank you, Jade M and all others. You made this painful day a little easier to bear.T. A.T. A. ★★★★★ I have been a client of District Vet since 2014. I have been to all 3 locations and have seen at least 5 of the vets. All of my experiences have been amazing! They are always kind and compassionate when providing services to both my cat and dog. I am also provided multiple options when it comes to the care of my pets with various recommendations, which I highly appreciate and respect. Dr. Walker is my #1 vet, followed by Dr. Evans, only because I have spent the most time with them. But I have never had a bad experience at District Vet. Highly recommend them!Melissa GMelissa G ★★★★★ Very easy to get to/park and the staff is always so helpful and friendly.Jordan S.Jordan S. ★★★★★ Had a great experience with our annual check up today. Both the vet and staff were very friendly and made our pup feel very welcomed!Samantha Summers K.Samantha Summers K. ★★★★★ I usually go to District Vet in Brookland. I had an emergency issue that we thought may require sedation and the Brookland location wasn't able to get my dog in (though they were super helpful and gave alternatives). So I called around to multiple district vets at 3pm on a Friday afternoon and Navy Yard came to the rescue! They also didn't have availability but put me on hold and worked some magic and was able to fit my dog in right away. They were so helpful and friendly, and they ended up fixing the concern without sedation and my dog is doing great. I'm forever thankful for their help and would recommend this location to everyone. Thank you so much District Veterinary Hospital - Navy Yard!Mariel M.Mariel M. ★★★★★ Cannot say enough good things about this place! They are so accommodating and always fit us in when we need an appointment. The front desk, vet techs, and vets are all amazing. This place is simply the bestCassidy Marie F.Cassidy Marie F. ★★★★★ District Vets Navy Yard has been a wonderful vet. We have taken our three cats (a kitten, 3 YO, and 14 YO) to the vet and each time it was a great experience. The staff was welcoming, facilities clean, and the appointments were timely. Dr. Brennan clearly loves animals and it showed in her care. The exams were thorough and quick and both the vet and vet tech were friendly and great at handling our animals. Unfortunately our 14 YO, Dolan, could not overcome lymphoma. When it was time for us to let him go District Vets handled a really hard situation perfectly. They had a room waiting for us when we arrived and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye before and after. They had a vet tech ready to take him and several staff made a point to stop and give their condolences. They also handled his cremation and helped to make a really hard and sad day a little less stressful.CrystalCrystal ★★★★★ We love this place!! Our golden retriever adores coming here - we literally have to avoid it on our walks because he gets so excited 🙂 The staff is attentive to both pet and parent. It is very easy to make appointments and the scheduling team is very responsive. We have also used their virtual chat tool for emergencies and found it super helpful. Highly recommend if you are in the Navy Yard/Capitol Hill area!Elizabeth G.Elizabeth G. ★★★★★ The staff at at DV Navy Yard is friendly and professional and obviously crazy about animals. Dr. Walker is extremely professional and competent, as well as warm and gentle with my cats. She takes her time examining and explaining the issues to me. For followup, she answers her emails! The facilities are spotless, well staffed, and cheerful. I expected the pricing to be high but it is reasonable. I am always able to get in, even same day. I highly recommend DV Navy Yard!HBHB ★★★★★ If you are looking for a kind, dedicated and honest vet, Dr. Walker here at District Vet Navy Yard is the vet for you.We had a more unique situation in that our kitten was facing challenges that were rare. But Dr. Walker was incredible at walking us through the process to try and determine what was going on and what next steps would be. We really appreciated her ability to present all options, her patience, her kindness and ultimately her dedication to trying to get to the bottom of this rare and hard to diagnose verdict. She truly went above and beyond to be helpful in a difficult time and their entire team worked with us, especially as we presented boundaries around coats. While ultimately we had to say goodbye to our little one, even through that process Dr. Walker and her team made us feel at ease and assured us during an impossible choice. It felt like a family there and that’s who you want caring for your furry family. We could not recommend them more and once we’re ready for another, I know who our vet will be.Lulu B.Lulu B. ★★★★★ We are very grateful to the District Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Walker went above and beyond to see our pet on short notice and took wonderful care of her. She was compassionate, thorough, and very clear on treatment plan instructions. Highly recommend.Steven I.Steven I. ★★★★★ We have gone through many DC vets (including other District Vet locations) and Navy Yard is hands-down the best we have found. Dr. Walker has been incredible with both our dogs and super generous with her time (both when we were running late to an appointment and via email follow ups). The staff is phenomenal, as well — including helping me jump my car when it wouldn’t start after a recent appointment!!EricEric ★★★★★ Staff is extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I adopted a new rescue dog that ended up having a lot of health challenges, which has been very stressful as a first time dog owner. I am so grateful to have found this clinic with so many caring, professional, savvy veterinary professionals. They are awesome.Nicole M.Nicole M. ★★★★★ Very helpful, and had my stuff ready at the counter when I came to pick it up. Very nice too!Ashley W.Ashley W. ★★★★★ this place is amazing. it's so clean, so well run, and everyone from the front desk to the vet techs to the vets are awesome. We have had great interactions with all, and Nikki/Dr. Raftery have been consistently amazing for us and our pup. Would give them a 10 out of 5 stars if I could.Ian L.Ian L. ★★★★★ Great place in navy yard. Very friendly staff. QBrianBrian ★★★★★ Everyone was super kind and helpful!JoeJoe ★★★★★ The entire team at the Navy Yard location was incredibly helpful and kind. My cat gets stressed out when going to the vet so they let me go immediately to a room to let him start to relax.Dr. Brennan is amazing. She listened to everything I had to say and provided very detailed explanation of what she thought may be going on, why, and how to treat it with some backup options in case the original plan didn't work. Dr. Brennan and the support team will keep us going back!Lee S.Lee S. ★★★★★ Had THE best experience with District Vet Navy Yard. The moment I walked into the clinic (and what a gorgeous place it is!), I was greeted by Ty's radiant smile and whole lotta charm to go with it. That pretty much set the tone for the entire visit. I won't wax exhuberant about Dr. Teich, who is a gem among humans, but I will say that he knows how to hire people who are not only wonderfully competent but also friendly, quirky, and fun. But the story continues! I then spoke this morning to a Vet Tech named Devon, whose professional yet playful demeanor put me in a good mood for the day. It's not often that a routine call leaves you feeling like you've been hugged. This one did! So here's my point: If you're looking for a mix of wonderful professionals with a fabulous bedside manner (for the humans and the pets), check out District Vet Navy Yard.Natalia B.Natalia B. ★★★★★ As a new dog dad, finding a veterinarian for the first time was challenging. I ran into Ty at a restaurant who happened to work at District Veterinarian Hospital (DVH). He told me about the practice and promised that Hope (He/Him/His) was going to be in good hands. So with his recommendation, I contacted him at DVH to schedule Hope’s first appointment and he explained what was going to happen and what I needed to do to prepare prior to the appointment. It was a very confusing process, but Ty put me at more ease and I felt more like family than just a pet owner. Before Hope’s appointment, I was able to get pet insurance through work but that also became confusing. So I called back to speak with Ty on how this process worked. He suggested that I just bring Hope in for his appointment and he would then guide me through the insurance reimbursement process. With his assistance, the process became more seamless than confusing. Upon meeting Ty and the staff at DVH, the atmosphere felt very comfortable. Ty’s passion for animals was evident when we arrived while his professionalism for handling and explaining administrative items was of exceptional service.Anxiously waiting in the front lobby, Hope was called back to start his appointment with Dr. Walker. While not know what to expect, as a new dog dad, I let her take over to begin the appointment. Dr. Walker, obviously, showed her love for taking care and treating dogs. She made me feel very welcomed when she sat on the floor to play with Hope to get an idea of Hope’s physical wellness and overall well-being. I had so many questions that she was able to answer so professionally in a way that a new pet owner would understand. I trusted her after seeing her play and interact with Hope. As a result, when she asked to take Hope back for his evaluation and vaccination shots, I knew I was in good hands. When Dr. Walker came back to the room with Hope, I asked what occurred. With her knowledge and expertise, she again explained everything and entertained all of my questions so I could better understand on what to expect moving forward. Thanks to Ty, who I miraculously met, recommended District Veterinarian Hospital and I’m happy I decided to move forward with my decision. There are so many veterinarians in D.C. and it can be hard to find the right one. If you’re looking for a practice to bring your pet, look no further, DHV far exceeded my expectations and I can assure you, based on my first experience, you and your pet will be in great hands.Thank you again, Ty and Dr. Walker!Danny M.Danny M. ★★★★★ A great place to take your pet. Friendly, helpful and caring staff. My dog saw Dr. Walker, and she was great. Beautiful facility.Donna P.Donna P. ★★★★★ I can’t emphasize enough how kind and supportive this vet office is - the staff, the doctors, everyone. They go out of their way for me and my dog Rainey time and time again to make sure we can easily get appointments. We came from another vet in town where this was NOT the case. We definitely recommend District Vet in Navy Yard!!Lauren M.Lauren M. ★★★★★ This vet is AMAZING. I am new to the area and of course my move in weekend - my pup got sick. They squeezed me in same day and were extremely accommodating. My pup has a history of seizures and has been in and out of hospitals his whole life, so I am very particular when it comes to vets. I can't recommend District Vet enough. Everyone is so kind and warm, and make me feel my concerns are heard. Dr. Walker is the sweetest, and made my pup feel so comfortable while he was there.Kennedy L.Kennedy L. ★★★★★ Had the best experience! Dr. Brennan is so nice.Drew B.Drew B. ★★★★★ They are simply the best veterinary hospital in the world! They have an amazing staff very friendly and dog lovers. Everyone there is simply the best of the best. They helped us during oh moving process to Hong Kong with lots of paperwork coming and going, lots of checks and even getting a special microchip only for us. Can’t thank them enough and truly recommend themdani R.dani R. ★★★★★ Very efficient at getting freaked out cats into a private room.Catherine D.Catherine D. ★★★★★ Very patient professional and kind I would advise everyone to District Veterinary Hospital for the care of your pet.💯Andrea C.Andrea C. ★★★★★ They treated my princess with good care. She was a little frightened since my home is the first home for her since she is a stray and was homeless.Jocelyn C.Jocelyn C. ★★★★★ District Vet has been our family's vet for nearly a decade. Our first dog was treated at their Brookland location. We trusted them so much that when the time came to say our last goodbye to her, we took her back there for one last time. We always appreciated their high level of care, compassion, and approach to healing. When we heard our favorite vet, Dr. Walker is back full-time at the newly open Navy Yard facility, we immediately transferred our new dog's records. Our first visit was nothing short of wonderful. It was easy to find street parking (we booked an early morning appointment). The neighborhood has plenty of walking options and is clearly dog friendly. The look and feel of the space, with welcoming and warm staff. made us feel at ease and comfortable. And having our four legged companion in the care of Dr.Walker has made our already pleasant experience a perfect one. We give our highest recommendations to District Vet in general, but especially to their newly open Navy Yard location.Biljana M.Biljana M. ★★★★★ The place is where I want my dog to go.Cuzin D.Cuzin D. ★★★★★ I took my dog to District Vet as new patient today and it was wonderful experience all around.. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, the vet tech was attentive and Dr walker was outstanding. Dr Walker spent time to get to know my dog and she clearly loves what she does. She even let my 70 pound boy sit on her lap during the consultation! 🙂Ellen P.Ellen P.js_loader
